At Firetail Orchids we blend slow release fertilisers to achieve a balance of major nutrients that conform with research done by Hugh A. Poole and John G. Seeley. A copy of their research paper may be viewed by clicking the following button:
The paper concludes that, for optimum growth, cymbidium orchids require the following major nutrients:
|Nitrogen (N)||100 ppm|
|Phosphorus (P)||level not covered by the research|
|Potassium (K)||50-100 ppm|
|Magnesium (Mg)||25 ppm|
Most fertilisers sold for orchids do not match these levels, particularly for magnesium.
