The paper concludes that, for optimum growth, cymbidium orchids require the following major nutrients:
| Nitrogen (N) | 100 ppm |
| Phosphorus (P) | level not covered by the research |
| Potassium (K) | 50-100 ppm |
| Magnesium (Mg) | 25 ppm |
Most fertilisers sold for orchids do not match these levels, particularly for magnesium.
